Was this the first proper horror episode? I have to admit this one was really scary and was on par with most of his other work. Bet Tom loved this one. F:S |

Didn't like this the first time I saw it, but it did grow on me. The story is one of Stephen King's better efforts (and a Cthulhu Mythos piece) and I felt the TV version didn't get close to capturing the story's sense of desperation, isolation and growing dread. However, when you view it as separate from the source story, it's actually very well done and a decent bit of TV horror. |

I found this one really scary. It had a hint of The Evil Dead about it with the sound effects and the books.

![]() You are correct sir! Really enjoyed it. If I was to nit pick a couple of things it would be that I think the kid was a really good child actor, and that some of the narration wasn't necessary. I think he performed well enough that you could see what was going through his head. Plus, would you really leave your child alone with that monstrosity?! But anyway, who cares, good fun, and I definately agree with the Evil Dead vibe. |

I reckon this story is more about the boys fear of his grandma than the grandma herself. Like all stephen king horror stories it has the tried and tested "what if X was evil" premise. I think most kids are scared of things or people that their parents say are fine, and in this story that's his grandma. Obviouly this is the steven king-verse where te kid was right to be scared. Works really well IMO. F:S |
