Rising Damp (TV Series 1974–1978)
S3, Ep2 Apr. 19, 1977 Stage Struck A very camp actor called Hilary moves into the house. He has written a play which he wants Ruth and Alan to perform. Rigsby is less than pleased to think that this will allow the long-haired student to share intimate moments with his beloved Miss Jones,so he appeals to Alan's homophobia and tells him that Hilary is gay, scaring Alan off which leads to Hilary asking Rigsby to replace him. Aware of what has gone on Hilary sits very near to Rigsby on the sofa and appears to make a pass at him, scaring Rigsby off from appearing the play. however, when Hilary assumes the lead it is clear from his behaviour with Ruth that he is definitely not gay. one of my fav 70s sitcoms, great performances from all the cast and Leonard Rossiter was one of britains best actors,a shame Kate Beckinsale did'nt inherit her dads talent as Richard Beckinsale is always a joy,and Peter Bowles is always reliabe. |

I've only ever seen bits 'n' bobs of this series but one moment i can't get enough of is the hilarious gangsta rap parody featuring 'Fur Q' and his controversial track 'Uzi Lover'.

Brass Eye 2001 Special 'Peadogeddon'
This programme proves that we have some right dumb asses in the this country, and Chris Morris may very well just be a genius. Brass Eye is a UK television series of satirical spoof documentaries which aired on Channel 4 in 1997 and was re-run in 2001. The series was created by Chris Morris, and written by, amongst others, Morris, David Quantick, Peter Baynham, Arthur Mathews and Graham Linehan. It was conceived as a sequel to Morris's earlier spoof news programmes On The Hour and The Day Today, and satirised the media's portrayal of various social ills. In 2001, the series was repeated, along with a new and entirely original extra show, which tackled the tricky subject of paedophilia and the associated moral panic prevalent in parts of the British media at the time following the death of Sarah Payne focused on the controversial 'name and shame' campaign of the News of the World. This included an incident in 2000, in which a paediatrician in Newport had the word 'PAEDO' daubed in yellow paint on her home. |

Great stuff. I remember when the paedophilia episode aired first people over here were going crazy. It was in news papers on the radio everyone was talking about it. I cant ever remember such a reaction to a tv show before or since.
