You can't beat a bit of Norman Stanley Fletcher where Ronnie Barker is concerned.

Porridge (TV Series 1974–1977)
Porridge (TV Series 1974–1977). Ronnie Barker could do no wrong in the 70s,but also Fulton Mackay and Brian Wilde and of course Richard Beckinsale are all superb in this series, plus loads of familiar 70s faces of the time are in this series thru out. Fletch is caught up in the inmates' mania for gambling and, working on the farm, has lots of eggs to use as stakes. After a falling out with fellow con Ives, Fletch plants the eggs on him for which Ives is punished and gets revenge by tipping MacKay off about an illegal Snakes and Ladders game taking place in the coal-hole. Cue coal being emptied onto the players. However Fletch has the last laugh when he is moved to a single cell ...having bet everybody else that he would be. Holy Flying Circus
Holy Flying Circus. Great re-imagining of what happened when Palin and Cleese went head to head with the Church of England, totally barmy but very funny with a great ensemble cast, great performance from Charles Edwards as Michael Palin,Darren Boyd is excellent as Cleese and Jason Thorpe as both Alan Dick / Desmond Lovely, both characters are quite mad,i even thoughts parts were quite touching,in a Python way of course. |

must plug the rather funny spoof Cricklewood Greats which is repeated tonight on BBC4. especially if youve read Matthew Sweet's Shepperton Babylon!! also the rather low key, but imo GREAT, Roger And Val Have Just Got In has a new time and slot, tonight AGAIN BBC2 22.00 GMT. Not to everyone's taste, but the first series was a hidden gem, stuck away on BBC4 along with Getting On, whilst that squirrel faced **** Mcintyre is on non stop! Ahem. Shame on the beeb for not repeating the first series to herald this return!!!
