I watched this about a decade ago when someone lent me the DVD and, aside from the fashion crimes, thought it was brilliant and very thought-provoking.

I think I've only seen the first series and keep meaning to rewatch that and follow it with the other series (I think it's on Netflix) but other things I have bought or are on my Netflix/Prime Video list have so far stopped me doing that.

I've been watching Luther on Netflix after hearing some pretty glowing praise. Hmmm sums up my reaction. It's all very derivative but elevated by two towering performances. Stringer Be.., Idris Elba, is fantastic and carries most of the show on his extremely broad shoulders, Ruth Wilson is also suitably messed up as Alice, before Luther I'd only seen her in The Affair, had no idea she was English.

I'm enjoying it, but only in the same way as I enjoy watching random episodes of CSI, not really grabbing me yet. I've only watched the first five episodes so far but I'm surprised the investigation from the first episode hasn't really been revisited. The Alice character seems to be looming in the background like a prettier Hannibal Lector. Entertaining enough, but waiting for the hook.

I started watching it a couple of months back but fell asleep in the first episode (not a slur on the show itself I was just really tired!)

I will probably give it another go at some point.

The bonus about only teaching in the afternoon is that I’ve got most of my day free to do what I want, which is why I’ve managed to watch all four seasons of Peaky Blinders this week. Great show, highly recommended, Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy are excellent in it

Watched "The Lead Man Cometh" from the Steptoe set I got. Rossiter steals it really, playing a Welsh trickster. Tbh the episode is one of the lighter bw ones that I've seen. The banter between S & S more of a "married" nature cough ... niggling etc.
