I haven't seen American Gods. However i've read the book and so long as it sticks close to the book there should be lots more to it than effects. If not then its a shitty adaptation.

It is following the book fairly well but goes off into massive 10 minute segments of cosmic wonder all the time that, whilst fantastic to look at, slow the human story down. That said, where else are you going to get Gillian Anderson as Lucile Ball offering to get her tits out!

Sorry gag, but I see a world of difference between the "aren't foreigners funny?" schtick of MYL and Garnett.

Yes, I remember them from the time. Never found them funny then either. That was what your parents watched. I had to find my own entertainment, which mostly consisted of old B&W comedy and horror films.

And anyway Spike's Q series is more "racist" than all 3 put together.
