'Red Bull Soapbox Race' on Dave

It's like a low-tech version of Robot Wars - people spend time and money, building 'soapboxes', (or 'Go-Karts' if you are from the UK) - and then race them down obstacle courses

I'm really not a fan of 'you've Been Framed' type shows, which highlight people falling over and hurting themselves, but some of the crashes in this show are truly spectacular and hilarious

Black mirror season 4.

Stella work so far. As I'm typing this I'm a few episodes in (dating episode) and I'm glad the quality has kept up.

Highlight so far is Crocodile. Possibly the darkest and most scabrous slice of TV I've seen in a while. It left me feeling incredibly unsettled.

I've also been watching Black Mirror; I watched Crocodile earlier today and will watch the next one in about half an hour.

Like you said, it's superb and unsettling in equal measures, as prescient and thought-provoking as the previous series and will be something I look forward to re-watching in years to come.

Liked the pilot for JCVJ ... keep us posted treb!!

Black Mirror 4. Not as good as previous series imho. Not one genuinely shocking moment ... is this what they mean by being jaded?
Hang The DJ especially. WTF??

The Seeds of Doom (1976)

A couple of investigative types are sent to the South Pole when possibly alien seed pods are dug up and begin to infect the research station team. Following a couple of rather downbeat episodes this soon switches to good old Blighty where an ever so deranged millionaire (Tony Beckley) intends to grow one of the seed pods and let it loose on the world.

This is classic sci-fi / horror television. Creepy and thrilling. A tight script, fine location work and excellent characters make this as good as anything you'll see from the period. From gruesome body horror to army air strikes The Seeds of Doom has it all.

Don't let the fact that this is a Doctor Who story put you off. Other than the fact it stars Tom Baker, you really wouldn't know as all the usual trappings are nowhere to be seen in this six part story that is as adult as 70's tv gets.

Look out for an excellent John Challis as a mercenary. A role about as far away from Boycie as you can get.

Concur. Great and grisly stuff. Another cherished memory which stood up to the test of time.

Watched a new Inside No 9 ... Zanzibar. Set on the 9th floor of a very accommodating hotel. A more humorous episode this time.
