After finishing watching Feud: Bette and Joan, something I really enjoyed and – oddly for a miniseries – feel like watching it again after revisiting Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?, I began watching the Marvel show Iron Fist on Netflix. It's much more of a character based, slow burning drama than shows like Daredevil, but I'm appreciating the change in tempo and the way it (through Claire character) ties in with Daredevil and Luke Cage. Additionally, Jeri Hogarth, the attorney from Jessica Jones, plays a larger role than in that series, so it ties in nicely to that series. One bugbear is the way they seem to have added artificial film grain to the picture, something which is only noticeable in a few scenes, particularly close-ups and those with bright backgrounds, but it's entirely unnecessary because it's not present in any of the other Marvel shows I've mentioned which are also in Ultra HD. I'm guessing they wanted to make it look as if it was shot on film rather than digitally, though exactly why that would be an aim is a complete mystery.

Finished watching Ghostwatch, my mum thought it was a load of shite, but I really enjoyed. Parkinson being a cynical prick even when the shits hitting the fan is great, as is craig charles. Only seen the ghost 3 times. Now watching The Stone Tape. Sent from my MediaPad T1 8.0 Pro using Tapatalk

![]() The Doombolt Chase (1978) An excellent thriller for teenagers from Don Houghton (Doctor Who - The Mind of Evil). A six part series about a naval commander arrested for sinking a small boat with his frigate, as his son and two friends go about attempting to clear his name and discover a fearsome new weapon under the sea. An well known cast including Peter Vaughan, Frederick Jaeger and Ewan Solon headline this very impressive pacy and action packed series which combines naval intrigue and sci-fi. It has superb location filming in and around the Bristol Channel and uses a lot of authentic Naval hardware culminating in a full on assault by the Marines on one of the islands in the Channel. I intended to watch two of the six episodes just to get into the series but ended up watching it all in a single sitting. Highly recommended. |
