Classics there include:

HALLOWEEN II-I remember renting that during the Xmas period when I was about 12! You got it right through to the new year as D E R was only open 2 days between Xmas and New Year!

HALLOWEEN III-still the best artwork of this film ever released.
I STILL long for someone to put this artwork out on Blu Ray.

HILLS HAVE EYES PART II-A guilty pleasure.LOVED the way Thorn Emi used to wrap the full poster round the cover. (See also THE OSTERMAN WEEKEND).

HIGHLANDER-THAT ARTWORK! Available on a Studio Canal ltd ed German Blu Ray.(See below)

HANDGUN-A sleazy little rape-revenger is available from Network dvd.Worth a look if you like that genre.

HUNDRA-What cracking artwork! Only the small indie videopits had this one.None of the bigger chains had it.
From what I remember, the artwork was the best thing about it!
For those curious,it's available on dvd......(See below).

Great stuff Reaps.

Always love looking through those old sleeves. Brings back a lot of memories.

I'd be 17 - 18 when i first started noticing these things in a small second hand video shop in a run down arcade. 1988 onward, so not the very early days.

I got to know the guys who ran it fairly soon and became good friends, i even ended up buying and selling for them in the shop.

Sadly it closed down in 2004 when the shops founder died.

I was about 14 when most of these titles started cropping up in my local video store. Among the ones Reaps recently posted, First Blood and Halloween III stand out the most for me. I love both of these flicks and rented out the Thorn EMI videos numerous times as a youngster. Great memories and great movies!

LOVE The Killing Fields. One of the finest Brit movies of the eighties.
Think the artist for JUPITER MENACE likes Carpenter's EFNY poster eh?

I've never seen that Thorn EMI cover to Kanal before, even though its a promo cover. I would imagine that Kanal would probably sell for good money on ebay. Thorn is a pretty desirable VHS label. I think most of the Fritz Lang's famous films got an early Pre-Cert release on good old Thorn too.
