I find it quite strange how former No Shame staff can mess up the titles released on their new Mya Communications label. After all, the DVDs issued under the No Shame banner were pretty acclaimed by fans i'm lead to believe (i have most of their cop thriller and giallo releases but have yet to watch any of 'em, they're all still sealed! Typical me!!) so how the same crew can drop the sort of clangers present on some of Mya's DVDs baffles me somewhat. Surely the kind of care and attention spent on perfecting No Shame's editions could be replicated on those titles issued by Mya Communcations. Especially if the same staff are working on these releases. |

I'm guessing it all comes down to budget? Or maybe it's just the wrong people involved in it! lol |

I wonder if it's a combination of both! |

Yeah I think the main reason why NoShame went down the pan was the money that was pumped into each release to make it the best that it could be... The Red Queen action figure, Dark Waters' stone demon face tablet... as well as the actual DVD extras like commentaries etc. I think that with MYA they've gone the opposite way - Vanilla editions with far from top notch transfers. But look at the titles they've released so far as well as what they're proposing to release: a pretty impressive catalogue IMO. It's a shame though that they seem to be almost rushing titles out (averaging around 2-3 month), meaning that a lot of releases have been postponed, this coupled with their odd titling and questionable source material may have put off a lot of customers. I'm still buying their releases though. I think I have six of their titles on pre-order, and I own about 5 already.... and seeing what they've got to come I'll definitely be buying more! |

This was posted over at CMF: The 2 guys who run MYA COMMUNICATIONS are former NoShame guys. And whilst Michele De Angelis (former co-owner of NoShame) has stated he has no link to MYA, i would find that very hard to believe. I would hazard a guess and say that, based on Michele De Angelis' previous history of cinematic theft and underhand nature (for instance, stealing a film print from Sergio Bergonzelli's own home after being invited there by the director....this is a verified FACT) he would be working with them in some form but staying under the radar. This seems to be a trait common to MYA since being set up as a company too, as the lack of readily available contact details and official website seems to suggest (and their flimsy excuse about trying to keep costs down by not having a website is laughable!). They have listed Renato Polselli's OSCENITA' and RIVELAZIONI DI UNO PSICHIATRA SUL MONDO PERVERSO DEL SESSO as on their future release schedule also. They own no rights or licenses whatsoever for OSCENITA' and i can verify that 100%. As for RIVELAZIONI... Renato always claimed until the day he passed away that he owned the worldwide rights to that film (although Redemption try to claim otherwise) and so i look forward to seeing the mess that comes of the digital-battle over that one as and when it may happen! |

Who knows maybe they'll get their act together more and more with each new release. Here's hoping! |

I'm hoping that too... maybe as this is their first year in the market they might be testing the water, and depending on their sales they might decide to 'beef up' some of their future releases! |
