Agreed but I'm a bit cynical what with studio canal dropping future hammer titles. I've never seen hammers the mummy so that would be fantastic.

You should be eagerly anticipating this as The Mummy is a really atmospheric and suspenseful thriller. I don't think it's as good as Dracula or The Curse of Frankenstein, but it's very different and is a must watch for anyone who likes Hammer horrors.

The Mummy is one of my favourite Hammers. Given it was amongst the original hammer films I would certainly hope it gets an HD release before long.

The Mummy is definitely coming this year through Icon/Lionsgate. Hammer confirmed it on their restoration blog last week.

Hi all, here’s an update on forthcoming restoration releases of Hammer films:
THE MUMMY will be released later this year as a Blu-ray/DVD Double Play by Lionsgate/Icon.
FRANKENSTEIN AND THE MONSTER FROM HELL and CAPTAIN KRONOS VAMPIRE HUNTER currently have no UK release date.
THE EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN and THE BRIDES OF DRACULA are owned worldwide by Universal and have been licensed to Final Cut Entertainment in the UK, subsequently Hammer have no involvement with these releases.

I'm not sure how I feel about them having nothing to do with the 2 Final Cut Entertainment releases, that probably means the extras won't be up to the usual standards of the SC/Lionsgate releases

That's mostly fantastic news. Ditto, like you a bit sceptical about those final cut releases. May try and email them to get more info and to ask them not to **** these up.

Mine arrived this week but i'm not sure which version to watch. 2007 or 2012 restoration with the "lost" footage, which one is to prefer when you wanna enjoy it as it was first intended?

Well, you could argue that uncut is how it was intended before the BBFC demanded cuts. So I'd say go for the 2012 restoration, which is pretty much as close to the originally intended version of the film as we're ever likely to see.
