But hey, each to their own. I'm not sore about it, you're entitled to your opinion, I just disagree, that's all.

No,just leave well enough alone. There's no need for adjustments and alterations. It's a case of George Lucasitis i think.

I posted this somewhere else but I'll repeat it here.. Having now experienced some of the changes (and I'll happily call them that) first hand thanks to the 'restored' trailer being on THE MUMMY'S SHROUD (which looks absolutely fantastic btw), I had no previous issue with the entrance of The Angel Of Death and now I must say, bathed in blue ethereal light, it looks like it's coming down from heaven rather than a demon from hell. I think it was far more effective coming out of the dark and if they wanted to do anything, it should have been more in keeping with the scenario. Where do those pointless flames come from too? Hammer obviously never felt that bad about the blank background to include it in the TV Spot that is also on the disc. |

The smart thing would have been to include both the original and "reimagined" versions. That way everyone would of been happy.

This is easily one of my favorite Hammer films. And it's a big list. I have the 21 disc box set as well, so I am unaffected by the aforementioned "tweaking". I don't like the idea, but as long as the original version hasn't been wiped off the face of the earth I can be (kind of) open minded about it.

It's a damnned shame no-one ahead of time thought to put the untampered version in the case as well, but then anyone who owns the dvd has a decent release has it already. This version while obviously gaulling to the purists actually improved the film for me. I bought it day of release and watched it again and still enjoyed the film far more than I used to. |
