Okay, I've determined that Taxi Driver, Straw Dogs, and A Clockwork Orange are ineligible. Someone might be able to sway me on Straw Dogs, but the other two are a no go.

The characters also seem very 'real' - none of this dumb bimbo and charicature bullshit that plagues many slashers. As slashers go, it's very believable in a lot of ways.

...and it also has Olivia Hussey AND John Saxon.
A more convincing argument.

If they are good enough for Fab Press' Ten Years of Terror - British Horror Films of the 1970's then they are good enough for you JJ.

You know I was only messing.

There's gonna be one shock omission from mine and one insanely high ranked title.

My stomach tells me that we could include Straw Dogs somehow, but I would have big problems with both Taxi Driver and A Clockwork Orange. Of course, you can do a lot if interpretation, but sorry - both films are no Horror films.

All three are mainly Thrillers, and therefore I suggest we exclude them and the like.

Greetings!
Hey, you can delete as you prefer. I was struggling to get to 50!!
As for Travis Bickle he's a psycho who kills people, as is Norman Bates...Henry...Hannibal Lecktor...Will Lustigs Maniac, etc, etc, what you got against poor Travis??
If we are doing "what is traditionally considered as a Horror film" then we defo have to get rid of Jaws, The Devils, The Wicker Man, Wake in Fright, Long Weekend and Alien, to name a few.
We will be left with endless TCM's, LHOTL's, Exorcist's, etc, ad nauseum. My list is of the films that horrified me in some way or struck a chord and left indelible immpressions on me.
I'm sorry they don't fit in to your definition of horror so feel free to cross out any you believe does not fit into the list.

Dawn of the Dead is an all-time classic - it will be in my Top 10 for sure. A pretty subtle film, despite its gory scenes.
