That's as maybe, but at least it has Leatherface in drag, which is in keeping with the Ed Gein story (although the yellow chainsaw is probably poetic license!)

None of the remakes/sequels are a patch on Hooper's original IMO. I very much doubt the latest film will be able to top it either. The '74 film is one of my favourite horror movies of all time.

I think TCM is the only franchise where I really like the original film but can't abide any of the sequels.

However, I do enjoy the 2003 remake somewhat.
gag and Demdike@Cult Labs like this.

Like the originals, the remake sequel ain't a patch on the first film.

okay having now watched part 4, I have to agree that it's really horrible.

Leatherface seemed so out of character and I really struggled to make it to the end of the film.

I also recently picked up a dvd of Leatherface (part 3) and the first three films kind of fit together and are enjoyable, although for me nothing can touch the original.

I even found the latest Texas Chainsaw to be reasonable although trying to match continuity with the first three is problematic.

Tbh, I'd rather watch Part 2 than the first film.

This article, in which it is argued that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is the greatest Vietnam War movie ever made, is well worth reading:

That NEXT GENERATION thing ranks among the worst movies I have ever seen. And that's saying a lot. God, what a piece of crap . . . .

Just got another one. There's just some things you gotta do. Don't mean you have to like it.
