I found it very boring and unscary and regard it as utter s**t (back then and now) and own the dvd of it as I like The Shocking Truth doc. I have said it before and I will say it again.... I much prefer the remakes then the Originals. |

As long as someone clearly mentions that it is his or her personal opinion (as SilverSurfer did) and not a valid judgement based on evidence, even a tag like "utter s**t" attributed to a real masterpiece like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has to be accepted. Still, like Rik, I find it hard to understand. This is what I wrote when Tobe Hooper passed away earlier this year... I still think it shows nicely why I think that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a fine film and rightfully part of the permanent collection of New York City's Museum of Modern Art. Quote:

Agree with the above, and as an old fart that was around when it came out in 74' the hoopla was intense (long before 'video nasties') one U.S. network cited it as a sick indictment of modern America, as I recall what really caused offense was the guy in the wheelchair getting 'buzzed' so along with The Exorcist the moral guardians were weeping by the mid 70s, I of course as a teen horror fan was delighted... (that was until living in the U.K. 1984 came along and they all got banned ) Maybe I would say that it takes too long for them to get to the house in modern terms but it is an absolutely must watch for horror fans, just so iconic.

With regards to TCM the beginning, I would say the redeeming factor is R Lee Ermeys performance Sent from my MediaPad T1 8.0 Pro using Tapatalk

As the usual saying about actors and phone books go, I would happily sit and watch him threateningly yell out strangers names in alphabetical order!

I wonder if the release on Blu ray the image has been cleaned all up rather than all scratchy etc? |

Taking away the scratches would make it more polished and less grungy in my opinion.
