No it isn't it's the entrance to a car park with double yellow lines on the road side.

A bus stop sign always points out towards the road too, not to mention no box area the bus pulls over to.

It's a nice original pic but the figure is a photoshop job. Sorry.

There also appears to be a reflection on his hat from the light, possibly enhanced by the moisture from the fog/mist/drizzle, which is absent from the famous image from Friedkin's film.

It does look to be the same figure, but at a different angle, so probably photoshopped. Effective, though.

Definitely the same figure and a photoshop, the original has a brief shadow, this one has none.
Still a cool photo though

Maybe it's time for some people on the forum to start planning their holidays in London!

Hi guys. Apologies for piggybacking on the thread, but I'm hoping some of you might be interested in this. I'm working on a PhD project which is entirely about The Exorcist, specifically the audiences of the film over the years. There's a lot of writing about the film from the production point of view, but its audiences tend to be dismissed with a few lines about the scare stories back when it was first released. The idea is to create a new kind of history of the film, based on the experiences of its audiences.

I've popped a very short survey online as I'm hoping to hear people's stories about their experiences watching the film, both for the first time and in the years since. Doesn't matter where or when you watched it as the project is very much about the life of the film from its release until the present day. The project is focused on the UK, but I'd love to hear from people from the US and elsewhere too. If you're interested in the project, there's a bit more info at theexorcistproject.com and I'm on Twitter as @exorcistproject.

Here's the survey: https://goo.gl/forms/zV25VCGGwMHhSF232

Hope you find it interesting! Cheers.

(Now I must start scrambling to see if I can afford to go to London Film and Comic Con!)

That's a great find! Haven't seen that before. There's a bit of information about The Exorcist's TV history in a really good article by a chap named Drew Beard in the Horror Studies journal (vol. 6.2, but I can email it to anyone if you're interested as it's subscription only).

He says the film was licensed to CBS, broadcast for the first time in February 1980 (with cuts and some re-dubbing of salty language), and then rebroadcast on the channel in August 1980, May 1981 and August 1983, after which it was sold to pay-cable channels, going into heavy rotation on Showtime in late 83 into early 84. Someone on Twitter claims it's from the premiere in 1980. Really nice art either way!

I saw a post on Facebook today (which I can't find now) which was about audience reactions, think it was in relation to this article from a couple of years back

Vintage Footage of Audiences Reacting to THE EXORCIST Reminds Us How Scary It Really Is | Nerdist
I love that video! Great stuff. There's a really great episode of the Dimbleby Talk-In from the 70s which has a similar bit in it. It's an Exorcist special. You might've seen it already. Worth watching for the documentary footage of an exorcism, too!
