Sounds you like had a great time, Reaps. I too must find my way up there one day and have a look for myself. They won't burn me though, will they?

The Wicker Man is one of those curious films where everything works perfectly. It's a very clever film. To all intents and purposes, Sgt. Howie is the good guy trying to solve a heinous crime, and yet our sympathies are drawn to the Pagans and not to Howie. Then the wind is knocked out of us in the final scenes and suddenly the hippy-esque Pagans don't seem so inviting or friendly anymore. Powerful stuff.

Shame The Wicker Tree was such a let down. I know these forums also serve as a portal for promoting films, but surely the CL crew must get sick of lying all the time, proclaiming films to be amazing when they clearly aren't.

Looking on Bluray.com there is a BD listing for The Wicker man from Optimum.
Might just be a blank but here's hoping. If released under the Vintage classics line it would make the perfect companion piece to Dont Look Now.

I'll second that!

The current Optimum disc looks tremendous upscaled in a BD player,so I've high hopes for a hi def transfer!

I really hope that comes off and they're currently working on a new HD restoration of the director's cut so it looks as good as the Witchfinder General BD and working on some new and exclusive bonus material.

On a slightly related topic, I haven't yet seen The Wicker Tree, but it's in my Lovefilm rental queue, so I'll see it sooner rather than later, keeping my expectations extremely low!

I'm not really being serious. I just think I'd be hard pressed to promote something I knew wasn't very good, I'd have to be honest about it. This is why PR is not my chosen vocation in life....

My only hope is that thay can marry up the rough footage to the quality of the rest as they did so seamlessly on the WG disc

I can't think of any additional features that would be required unless it's stuff from the archives. The commentary and docs on the dvd are pretty comprehensive . . .
