Here’s the trailer and a little bit of info on Calum Waddell’s new documentary on Cannibal Holocaust. Looks like it could be really good. Don’t think there’s been any doc about the film quite like this before that includes talking to some of the local people who worked on it. Can’t wait to see it when it finally gets some kind of release. https://rue-morgue.com/exclusive-tra...ot-to-chew-on/

I'm sure it will be fascinating on first viewing, but I'm not convinced it will have a lasting re-watch appeal

Grindhouse Releasing has unearthed never-before-seen movie poster art for Ruggero Deodato’s CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST in the vaults of the film’s original U.S. distributor ![]() Larry Joachim of Trans-Continental Film Corp. commissioned this painting from artist Marcus Boas in 1979, intending to use the art on the U.S. one-sheet poster for the New York opening of CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST — but the design was deemed too graphic and shocking by theater owners

I've sat through this twice. Once with my son who was about 12 at the time and he hated the animal stuff. Personally I think the music creates as much tension as anything on screen. It remains a powerful experience although I'm not sure I actually like it.

I've seen the documentary and completely agree with Mike Hostench. It's clearly made with skill and passion, and is a fascinating look at the background to filming, the locations, and people involved. I half expected it to be a documentary about the pros and cons of the film, its merits, influence, and place within the Italian cannibal cycle. I was therefore very pleasantly surprised to find a compelling travelogue with interesting interview subjects. I really liked the way Calum and Naomi were able to use several bits of film to link Cannibal Holocaust and Cannibal Ferox, showing how they are connected, and having the guided tour around the locations was very illuminating and engaging.
