The Chaser (2008, Hong-jin Na)

When a pimp investigates the disappearance of one of his "stable", we enter a world that didn't quite hold the attention like I Saw The Devil , but the two central performances are still worth checking out.
A nice change from Cannon and that

Happiness (Todd Solondz)

Yes, I watched it. "You're shit, I'm champagne!" Whatta line. Easily the cruellest of his films to date ( little did I know what was to come ) this finds us in the middle of another buncha "normal" folks. Charming stuff which would no doubt cause conniption fits amongst ... some people
Great double bill with Husbands And Wives

Tiger On The Beat (1988)

A " no hoper" is forced to buddy up with a "straight shooter" in order to bring down some crimey types
Utter mayhem ensues. Highly recommended somewhat old bean.

Revenge Of The Shaolin Temple (1982)

More period mayhem from the stable of Tomas Tang.
To say that the print wasn't pristine would be an understatement master.
Ahem. To describe in mere words etc etc. Tang's films make Godfrey Ho's look quite sane tbh. More? There's filth as well (trimmed somewhat hahaha), which is sadly integral to the plot (revenge from beyond etc). Did I mention the print?

Secret Executioners (aka "Haegyeolsa" 1982)

I also perused this more contemporary thriller/actioner.
A rather morose detective (hungover??) plods (and kicks) his way through the ususal nefariousness.
But the kicking never stops (or that's how it seemed haha).
LAWDY.
Yet again the print (and atrocious dubbing) all add to the entertainment. Green lines!

Shaolin Vs Lama (1983)

A young man learns that the path to enlightenment does involve a lot of kicking in this tale of revenge and rebirth in feudal times. Searching for a Master worthy of his talents, he meets a damsel in distress and a Shaolin monk, and an ex pupil who has turned to evil (middle age crisis??). Not as absolutely mental as the last two, but the green lines made up for it
Did these prints swim here??

Who Cares! (1991, Chiu-Jun Lee)

And why aren't more films called this??
HK to the core. Dick Wei is the villian.
A trio of female cops find they are hunting a vampire in the course of their "normal" investigations. A bloody hoot this was. The usual comic elements didn't grate as much and the kicking is all good. Happy Demon!!

Child Of Peach (1987, Chiang-Hsing Chao, Chung-Liang Chen)

Er, wow. A charming if totally bonkers flick this.
When adoption is not an option, the next best thing is to .... wish for a child.
What turns up, isn't in any guidebook cough.
A tad treacely in places but it kept my attention LF.
Whatever next?
