I've just been looking at some old Loony Tunes videos on YouTube and yikes, the Uncle Tom character in this cartoon is very dated and uncomfortably racist



The racism in this isn't exactly subtle

In America, there's a marvin the martian/bugs bunny dvd compilation out 6th oct, and a bugs bunny 80th anniversary set out 2nd november!

No love for LT on uk blu ray though!

But it passed at the time, so as a historical artifact it needs to stay in sight imho. Lest we forget etc.

It sounds like a sensible solution to me. Contextualised discriminatory language and imagery is better than censored language and imagery.

What other characters feature, and is there any character design or language which could be described as racist or culturally insensitive?
