A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (1973)
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (1973) Not sure why I'm watching this, since l have know idea when Thanksgiving Day is or care if I'm being perfectly honest, just another made up celebration and an excuse for a holiday by the looks of it. Anyway I digress,a good reason to watch this is seeing Charlie Brown try and kick that football before Lucy pulls it away. Also Snoopy and Woodstock are the only ones seemingly capable of doing anything, this includes laying a table for dinner and dressing up as pilgrim's.Its pretty bizarre to any British viewers, but that kind of adds to the viewing experience, it's kitsch and retro enough to be entertaining,I just want to know what sort of bird is Woodstock.

I love that animation style on Dorothy, It's Chuck Jones meets Chris Sanders.

Gulliver's Travels. 1939. Gulliver washes ashore on the kingdom Lilliput and helps prevent a war from it's rivals. I have only ever seen the 58-60 minute edited down version of this cartoon was glad to see it in it's full release musical version, Sam Parker who was a radio announcer provides his deep voice for Gulliver which he should have done more voice over for animation or continued to work in other film projects. This was still enjoyable to watch even bringing back memories of being a young lad seeing it with it's laughs. It's the great pumpkin Charles
It's the Great Pumpkin,Charlie Brown.(1966). There are not many cartoons that epitomize not just Halloween but that Autumnal feeling, where the leaves are falling, signaling that summer is over and winter is a looming...Linus is writing to the great pumpkin, who he hopes will get his letter, and then deliver him presents on Halloween night and all he has to do is hang around the pumpkin patch all evening...All the rest of the gang are getting ready to go to the big Halloween party after they have been trick or treating... Amazingly all Charlie Brown ever seems to get is a rock, then again Charlie's costume is a white sheet covered in eye hole slots... Snoopy's costume on the over hand,is slightly more impressive , as he is dressed as a World War One fighter pilot, which then leads to a great sequence as we see Snoopy, sitting a top his dog kennel, flying through the skies of France, looking to fight the Red Baron... Unfortunately Snoopy is shot down and tries to evade capture after a crash landing...Only to be mistaken as the great pumpkin by Linus... There are not many cartoons that can capture a sense of melancholy or a particular season, but It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown manages to do both as is a firm favourite anytime of the year...
