I will also continue to buy DVD's with the occasional BD thrown in.I think a lot of consumers do this, that's why film companies may think twice about getting a HD master done for a cult movie they think won't shift enough units on Blu-ray to make a decent profit!

I don't know if this info is correct but I read that City of the Living Dead was shot on 16mm and blown up to 35mm for theatrical exhibition.

I can believe that as the Blu-ray doesn't look as if, despite all restoration, it was sourced from the greatest print ever made. You can get great transfers from 16mm prints and I believe this is the case here as it doesn't have that level of detail that a 32 mm negative would give you.

I know this is only arguing over a minor technical point as the picture, particularly in high definition, is very good but it certainly isn't as clear or has the same level of detail and definition as the Dawn of the Dead or Day of the Dead Blu-ray Discs.

Review fromt the American Blu-Ray from Blue Underground:
http://uk.blu-ray.com/movies/City-of...y-Review/9535/

It´s strange but the Blue Underground version seems a little bit better than the one from Arrow.

That´s strange because both Arrow and Blue Underground say that the print is the same because it was co-produced by both companies.

One thing that Arrow wins all the way is in the extras.
The ones from Blue-Underground are very light in comparison with the ones from Arrow...

BU could have done some additional work on his version but I would imagine that 3+ hours of HD extras on the Arrow (plus the 1 SD featurette) might mean a lower bitrate for the feature (Blue Underground has about 1 hour of HD extras and about a half-hour of SD extras).

I wouldn't go strictly by a still image.A moving image can tell a completely different story.
