The old Redemption video additionally had the 'dogfight' cut out.

Sounds great. Hope the BD happens then. Keep us posted on whether we got a chance keeping it uncut. Fingers crossed.

The BBFC have NOT made a decision yet whether or not to cut the scene.

The scene should NOT be cut. The legislation specifically states that it's for 'domesticated' or 'protected' animals. The lizard used in the film is NOT a domesticated or protected animal.

Now to hope they listen to that argument.

I sent them a detailed e-mail and here was their response:

Thank you for your email.

I'm afraid your request is somewhat presumptuous, as no decision regarding our classification of DEEP RED, including whether to cut the scene in question, has been made. We are very aware of UK law regarding animal cruelty, and I gather the arguments on our position have been rehearsed ad infinitum online following the recent decision on INFERNO.

Nevertheless, thank you for taking the time and trouble to express your views to us.

That's a smart-arsed, extremely unprofessional, response!

Anyone who has been to Italy can tell you that lizards are everywhere there. Look in a bush and you'll find a lizard.

No offence to the chaps and chapettes at the BBFC because I do thank them for releasing Inferno uncut, but does that reply make it sound as if they did it grudingly? As if, uh oh, they'll bombard us with emails again?

The guide does sound a little bit pissed that the public had the temerity to discuss whether the BBFC's decision to cut Inferno was legal or not!
