Your not buying it due to a virtually unnoticeable sound sync issue!?!? Seems a bit mad that! No film release is ever going to be perfect. And your going to be waiting a very long time for another version of THE BEYOND, which will be very unlikely to be perfect also!?

Faults I adore Arrow's dvds, there are faults in other movies, from the big studios, like in the 25th anniversary Poltergeist dvd, when Heather delivers the classic "They're Here" LINE, IT is madly out of sync with her mouth. The pre credit sequence in my copy of The Beyond is in B/W, but i dont much care, However, I read in dvd world, Arrow were offering to send a replacement disc if you kept the receipt for your purchase.......Sadly i didnt, but it doesnt bother me...Arrow's releases are top notch |

Yeah, someone on another forum mentioned that the sync error was still there. A shame, but as long as the pre-credit sequence has been fixed (which it has), I'm a happy camper.

I also love Arrows releases. The sync issue should not be there to be honest but as its a minor issue and some people say you cant notice it then its ok. |

It seems to me that some people just watch movies in order to find mistakes in the release in order to proudly tell everyone how pissed off they are by that ever so big fault and that they definitely won't buy the release (some kind of masochism perhaps?). There are certainly things that are really worth complaining about - wrong ascpect ratio, hardly understandable audio tracks, cut versions or whatever. Then there are things that you CAN complain about in a civilised manner, if it is really important to you - I'd put the opening sequence of "The Beyond" into that category, as the b/w-opening doesn't really hurt or destroy anything yet can be considered as unusual or simply wrong. But nagging because of itty bitty things like the audio-sync-issue (it's only for some seconds, so calm down) goes a little bit too far in my eyes. And to add my very personal two cents: if that hallucinated big problem keeps anyone from buying such a fantastic release - well, you cannot please everybody; maybe some people just don't deserve getting such great editions. I really enjoy laughing my head off thinking of how pedantic people can be - or should I start crying because of such ingratitude? Now I feel better; but I really think this was about time. Greetings! PS: Talking about quality control: of course errors should not happen; nevertheless they do occur from time to time. As we're all human beings (or at least most of us) it is a natural thing to happen. And as long as the real errors are made up for the way Arrow do nobody has a genuine right to complain. |

The issue is that more than just THE BEYOND has had QC issues, this isn't the first time there's been errors in their releases. I like Arrow, I've got a number of blu-rays on my shelf from Arrow. But there is no reason for it to even happen this regularly (small company or not). It is not "nit picking," btw -- dubbing issues, poorly reviewed transfers/encoding, these are all things that should be caught before discs are sent out for review. If they need help or someone who knows better, then Arrow needs to find someone who is more capable than whomever has been doing it. This is constructive criticism, too.

However - and on that point I have to agree with you - it might be worth considering if it wouldn't better to send out some 20 copies of the final to-be-released edition to a mixed audience of film enthusiasts some weeks before the real release. But I cannot imagine that Arrow isn't doing this already - twenty pre-release copies certainly must be cheaper than replacing a lot more faulty discs. On the other hand: in the modern times of our computer age it might be one simple click on one stupid button that choses the wrong movie file - but that's just guesswork. So long, greetings! |
