Regardless of what the missing footage is of, whether it's "only a ship" or 6 seconds of Al Cliver scratching his arse, it's still a mistake and one that Arrow should sort out. But, seeing as they're not gonna do a goddamn thing about it, it looks like we're stuck with it

I agree, sawyer6. Legally speaking - the release says "STRONG UNCUT EDITION". Trouble is, it ain't uncut. It is, in fact, a cut version of Zombie Flesh Eaters, cut by 6 seconds. I don't care why this happened, and it is indeed futile - the fact that the release is cut gives any buyer the right to return the Blu-ray to the seller. Period. The only way out of this mess - openly admitting the flaw ("Yes, it is a mistake.") and providing a replacement disc as soon as possible. A reputation is easily lost! Greetings! Now, that IS different. That DOES obstruct the flow of the narrative, and is imediatly notice able. I'm not going to lose any of sleep over either yet The Beyond is the more amiguous, whilst the absense of a couple of thousand frame's of the hull of a ship isn't going to go astray and I actualy feel the jump cut is more efficient without it. |

Have to say I'm still more interested in the technical reasons for the cock up and why the footage is missing from the video file on the Blu Ray.

It's not a jump cut, just a standard cut! Ahem...edit nerd alert. I do think it looks a lot better as intended. The shot was clearly composed so you can see the boat encroach upon the New York skyline as part of an establishing shot rather than just see the boat at the start of the cut. Obviously doesn't make a great deal of difference in the grand scheme of things but on the BU version this shot is an establishing shot, on the Arrow one it isn't. May not be a big deal to some in terms of narrative but it is in terms of shot composition. |

And? The theatrical cut can often be supperior to the directors cut, the list there is to huge to thathom. Are we all getting so OTT at the absence of the the ships hull?

Didn't realise you know better than Fulci. He opened the film like that for a reason, that's the way he wanted it. Who are you to say it doesn't matter that it's been removed? And again, I don't care what the missing footage is, that's unimportant.
