That company (Variety Communications) has quite a nice library too... Come on Arrow, they have Mario Bava's Kill Baby Kill!

Are they implying the BU release isn't 100% official? Not trying to create rumours, but that's what it looks like.
BU licensed it from the US licensor. There was a big mix up a few years ago when Shriek Show licensed it from Variety not realising that the US rights were owned by another company and were already with Bill Lustig and BU (it was something like that anyway)

Ah, in that case it's the first sentence that's not correct...
Thanks.

Loving the 4 artwork panels for this, I know which one I'll be using!
N.B I won't post them because I'm sure an announcement from Arrow will be posted soon and I don't want to steal anybodies thunder

I think they made the right choices.

Bloody Facebook. It started off feeling like Arrow were cheating on us, now we're the discarded first wives!

"our release is scanned from the original negative and will display a greater sharpness and quality, as well as more picture information, than any other release previously available."

This is great news! I really hope its true as it will vindicate my decision to flog the BU BD in preparation for Arrow's release. I've got the steelbook and limited edition on order I'm a huge fan of BU but would rather support a UK company like Arrow, especially if they're putting out a superior product!

Not at all. Basically Bill Lustig first sub-licensed Zombie via the Jerry Gross Organisation, which is probably why Variety Film have never heard of BU. BU are sub-licensors, not primary licensors. This is where all the mix-up came about when Shriek Show licensed it direct from Variety Film, even though technically BU still held the rights. It can be a complex thing, this rights business.

EDIT: I've just noticed that Pete already said the same thing.

Yep, but there's a way to avoid this. I think Arrow should announce ALL Blu-ray titles as "Region B locked". If they manage to get permission for a "Region Free" release, annouce it shortly before the Blu-ray is out - voilÃ*!

Greetings!
