The Hard Way ( Michele Massimo Tarantini, 1987 )
A brutal drug dealer named Pinheiro controlls the 'golden triangle' in between Brazil and Colombia. Anyone who gets in his way meets a gruesome end. The U.S government is keen to put a stop to his antics but are fearful that a extradition to the U.S will have deadly consequenses. So they put their best men - Bull (Miles O'Keeffe), Karl (Milton Morris) and Paolo (Chuck Bishop) on the case with instructions to kidnap Pinheiro and bring him back to the U.S.A.

Their arrival in the jungle is not welcomed by Pinheiros men and, after a planned rendezvous goes tit's up, the trio are left stranded and must try to make their way to safety whilst being persued by Pinheiro's pyschotic henchman Warren (Henry Silva) and his men.

Directed at a fast clip by Michele Massimo Tarantini, The Hard Way (aka The Colombian Connection) is a fun way to spend 85 minutes of your life. Whilst its not a sleazy as Tarantini's previous Massacre in Dinosaur Valley, the pace is fast with non stop action all the way through with the only break comming when Henry Silva returns to base to get a drink and tell his boss that he likes to kill people! Miles O'Keeffe (Ator) is good value as the hard as nails hero. Henry Silva is his usual scenery chewing self ,while the rest of the cast are merely functional. Regular Bruno Mattei composer Luigi Ceccarelli contributes a fun, if very 80's, score (fans of Rats - Night of Terror might find some of the music familiar). The only things that let the film down are the fact that all the air craft that gets destroyed in the film are clearly models and some obvious stunt doubles in some scene's.
Regardless of those flaws I reccomend you seek this out, making sure you have some beer and pizza ready.
DVD:
The film is (I think) only available on a cheap bootleg dvd from the dubious 23rd Century. The print used is suprisingly good, not perfect but watchable like a good vhs. If you see it cheap dont hesitate in picking it up.
