I tried to watch the series but couldn't get on with it, have you seen it and if so, how does it compare to the book?

The Critics Were Wrong Pt 1 Battleship Potemkin "Those that are out-and-out reds, and those that are inclined to socialism will undoubtedly find great things about the picture, but hardly anyone else will ... To Russians this may all mean something. As a pictorial historical record for the archives of the Soviet Government it may also mean something, but to the average American, unless he's an out-and-out red, it doesn't mean a damn. And that's that" (edited) Variety, 8/12/26. Anon. Wow. Froth much duuude?

The Critics Were Wrong Pt 2 Psycho "... the director gets so far out that his chief sources of inspiration appear to have been Krafft-Ebing & the Marquis de Sade ... Hitchcock seems to have been more interested in shocking his audience with the bloodiest bathtub murder in screen history (my highlighting), and in photographing Janet Leigh in various stages of undress, than in observing the ordinary rules of good film construction. This is a dangerous corner for a gifted movie maker to place himself in." Proof that it worked then?? Moira Walsh for America, 9/7/60.

Finished the Swindle book. Apart from the hilarious factual inaccuracies, twas worth a read. Still prefer Moorcock's take though
