I read this while ago and completely agree with your assessment. I have volume 2 waiting to be read and Nightmare USA is a brilliant book which you should definitely buy. I don't know if you've ever used The Book Depository, but they currently have a 10% discount and can be cheaper than Amazon -- just add May11 when you get to the checkout.

Reading Stephen King's Danse Macabre, which is a fascinating look into the horror genre, written in a nice conversational style. Just a shame it stops at 1980 - I'l love to see an update of this. You can pick this up for peanuts these days so I'd have no hesitation in recommending it.

Hopefully I'll have ratttled through this by the time Fab Press' Any Gun Can Play, which I've been looking forward to for months, hits the shelves!

I was re-reading Danse Macabre some time ago, generally reading it in the evenings just before I went to sleep but put it on the backburner when I used that time to watch most episodes from my Battlestar Galactica complete collection and I haven't yet got back in the 'groove'. That's something I really should do as I want to start William Peter Blatty's The Redemption, Allan Brown's Inside The Wicker Man and then the new version of Nightmare Movies by Kim Newman.

I commute to work by train and tend to read most then. If it was a case of finding time when I'm at home, sadly I don't think it'd happen

I'm just reading Frank Herbert's seminal 1965 sci-fi epic DUNE. I felt compelled to read it after watching the film on blu ray last week for the first time and being rather mystified by the whole story which they crammed into a 2 hr 20 min film. The book is making lots of things much clearer, and is a really good read...Highly recommended!

"The Owl Service" by Alan Garner. Very weird kids book from 1967 with the story told almost completely in dialogue. It concerns three teenagers in the present trapped by and in the past. It has the feel of "Quatermass and the Pit" but is bugger all like it, if that's any help describing it!

just picked up a Scream Queens book, load of film related books been dropped off at local charity shop etc, might go back for a L Halliwell horror compendium (unless anyone can tell me otherwise), fairly text driven, quite a few b/w pictures etc.

Picked up Bill Bryson's At Home for just under £4. It's quite lengthy, but perfect to dip in and out of whilst on trains or on the toilet.
