A post about the war reminded me of something i read in this months Dark Side about the producer of Ilsa trying to get it past the bbfc:

I was talking to a member of the board trying to get it passed and he turned to me and said ' You Know we do not hate the Germans that much.'

Calum will correct me on that as it was his interview.

It's not going to happen.
Well, back in '98 everyone was saying of banned films once again becoming available uncut and saying it would never happen. A year or two later and we've got uncut versions of Evil Dead, Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Exorcist sitting on shop shelves.

But yes, I do agree that the BBFC aren't going anywhere just yet - it's too much of a money spinner. They're in a win/win situation - they can still reject or cut a film and still get paid for it.

Cinema must be the only remaining art form where you submit your work to be hacked up. Imagine hacking up the Mona Lisa for censorship reasons, or blackening over parts of the Cistene Chapel. It would never happen. So why do artists have to submit to this kind of treatment when it comes to films? The average Shaun Hutson novel contains some of the most vile imagery committed to the written form (I'm talking rape, snuff movies, violence and paedophilia - really incendiary stuff) and anyone of any age can read that. Go figure.

It would mean major amendments to both the VIdeo Recordings & Obscene Publications Acts first. I can't somehow see this happening either.

the cut version did indeed trim the killing of the family(quite considerably)as well as the chopstick scene. You will see quite a difference between the 2 versions

Thanks Alex, I didn't realise it was so heavily cut. I don't actually have the uncut version but I know where to get it from.

I was always surprised that there was an outcry about the killing of a child in Run and Kill but not the killing of children in this one.

Never even heard of Run and Kill, most of these films have never had a UK release.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108600/

seek out the austrian/german dvd all the others are cut

there are probably around half a dozen CAT3 films from the mid 90's that are essential viewing to anyone with a passing interest in horror/exploitation these being

The Untold Story
Run and Kill
Dr Lam(b)
The Ebola Syndrome
Story Of Ricky
Men Behind the Sun

then there are films like Horrible High Heels, Diary of A Serial Killer, Prostitute killers, Crimes of the Beast ETC. this is without even looking at the Japanese films
