I finally watched the Optimum version last week.

Damned impressive. It was like watching a whole new film for me as I previously only had a multi-generational VHS pan'n'scan copy.

Loved it and thought the print was exquisite.

I think so. Someone said that the 'villainous lizard woman' looked like my Mum and, well, she sort of does lo.

I watched it last week and I'm just going to quote you as a "me too", since you sum it up perfectly!

2 other things: Stanley Baker truly elevates Franco's "The Bloody Judge"; and "Lizard" feels very Hitchcockian to me (in a good way).

Of course mostly I was checking out Florinda Bolkan - who is really great and very convincing in a really strange role. Fulci's version of London that we see in this film is also wonderfully odd and he makes great use of (as usual mostly derelict) Alexandra Palace and I really liked the attention to detail in the film - Inspector Corvin using a pack of matches from Annabel's and Joan Hammond carrying a Biba bag. I know people criticize Fulci's films for being a bit ramshackle but here someone was definitely paying attention.

Sorry if this has already been covered, but does this release include two sets of subtitles? One for the Italian track in full, and another for the brief Italian inserts?

I was going to buy this when in HMV the other day but decided against it when I saw they wanted £20 for it.
