I think i'd go with the Shameless version of The Church. The other looks far too bright. Unless said actress is naturally bright pink of skin colour.

What are the extras like on the Shameless Ferox? I know what is listed but is there any actual new information on there? Are the interviews worth it as I already have the Grindhouse set? |

![]() I watched both interviews last night and they are really interesting because of how Lenzi and Radice have such contrasting opinions of the film, and because it's one of the last interviews that Lenzi gave. In the absence of a commentary or extensive documentary or featurette, they make a good addition to the disc and are likely to be things I would watch more than once.

![]() That'll teach me to read through a thread about New York Ripper and then reply to a post on a different thread about a different film by a different director without clearing my mental browser history!

![]() I knew who they meant and in fairness that sounds pretty good, there are some interviews on the grindhouse disc but this sounds more in depth so may well pick this release up for the extras. It wouldn't be the first Italian horror blu-ray where I have more than one release of the same title Thanks for the info Nos |

![]() Quote:
"“A Taste of the Jungle†featurette (21:49) Umberto Lenzi is on fine form giving one of his very last interviews before his sad death last year. He tackles all the usual subjects related to this film, the hard shoot, the animal violence, his problematic relationship with Giovanni Lobardo Radice and is as charismatic and as wily as hE always seemed to be. A smart guy and a great raconteur; his presence is sorely missed. “Hell in the Jungle: Giovanni Lombardo Radice ‘Mike Logan’†featurette (33:16) The great “John Morghenâ€; infamous THE whipping boy of Italian genre cinema in that he was guaranteed to have a nasty end in most of the films in which he appeared. He appears sporting a beard and a half! We get all the usual anecdotes trotted out before, only given a more melancholic spin this time. It’s well known he didn’t get on with Lenzi and hated the experience of making the film and the film itself. It’s the only one of his many movies he regrets making. “Cannibal Ferox: 2K ProRes 4444, Material: Neg 16mm, No Colour Collection, No Restoration - Comparison with Final Restored Version†featurette (3:30) Short piece showing how much the film has been restored with plenty of before and after shots. Lenzi Photo Gallery (11 images) OK, if limited gallery of promotional material about the late director. Startup Trailer: - Play All (2:44) - Cannibal Holocaust (1:04) - The Mountain of the Cannibal God (1:40) Trailers for two other titles available in the JK from Shameless Films. Reversible cover Choice of two artworks. BARF: Vomit Bag Not sent for review, but a gimmick vomit bag is ncluded should you feel the need to avail yourself of it’s services during the course of the film." http://www.dvdcompare.net/review.php?rid=5410

Thanks Susan, definitely looks like it's worth picking up, anyway I can put the Grindhouse one in my video nasties section and the Shameless one in my Italian horror section.

I started typing something earlier today but it disappeared before I had chance to post and needed to go out. I agree with the review Susan posted. Lenzi is a good raconteur and there and speaks well about the finances, Italian film industry, his thoughts of the shoot, Deodato, working with Radice, the animal cruelty, and other things. With his bald head and magnificent beard, Radice doesn't hold back in his distaste of the film, something he has spoken about before including on commentaries, and how he basically feels he was conned into being complicit in the gratuitous animal violence by Lenzi. The way he speaks about the film makes me very glad I asked him to sign the DVD sleeves of other things (The House on the Edge of the Park was one) when I met him four years ago. As both men can't be right, the truth probably lies somewhere in between so it's up to you to decide who you believe!
