The Case of the Bloody Iris

It's not funny anymore. Either people at Shameless are blind or they simply don't care. Stop ****ing up these great movies already! One abysmal release after another.

I'm not too sure what your grievances are.

Slightly different opening titles or Italian sourced digital veneer?

The review doesn't say it's a poor print. After all it's an Italian obscurity from 1972. I'm not sure what people expect. It's not exactly an error, unlike the Shameless release of Cemetery Man.

Just be thankful it's out on blu-ray.

It's the digital artifacts aka scanner noise, where the film grain hasn't been compressed very well and it looks really artifical. One of the downfalls of the bluray format, if it's not done correctly in scanning phase then it's really obvious when you watch it in HD.

One of the worst culprits I've seen recently was The Perfume of the Lady in Black which had a thick fuzzy band of noise right theough the middle of the screen which was static against the on-screen movement making it very distracting and I turned the film off without even finishing it!

But it's not actually the fault of Shameless, more the Italian master then?

In a way i was wrong to say be thankful it's out on blu-ray, perhaps i should have said be thankful it's out on disc at all.

I've just bought case of the bloody iris. Looks ok from the review posted to me but each to their own.

A lot has been made of their Cemetery Man and some audio glitch?
Have I got this right?
I've watched their dvd several times (it does make me laugh ) and have never noticed anything wrong. This is across 2 machines. Admittedly I've always watched the Italian version .

I have my cloak in my hand.

Maybe we need to re-title this thread to 'Shameless Re-Releases Coming Soon'!

'The Nurse' (1979)' - Blu-Ray pre-order available from Amaozn UK - £19:80

Release date: February 26

"From the producers of ‘Doctor Zhivago’ comes a film that finally reveals URSULA ANDRESS in all her glory!

Voted the TOP BOND GIRL of all time, Ursula Andress made cinematic history when she emerged from the sea in that bikini. Not only was this iconic scene crowned "No1 of the 100 Greatest Sexy Screen-Moments” and earned Andress a Golden Globe, but it heralded a new generation of women who wanted and expected more: the 'sexual revolution' had started.

Ever wondered what she looks like without that bikini? Well, wonder no more and reach for The Nurse! Andress stars as The Sensuous Nurse, spending most of this romp-com undressed.

Screen legend Jack Palance (City Slickers) plays an American tycoon aiming to buy a vineyard in the beautiful Italian Veneto. But the hitch is that the aging owner won't sign, despite his madcap family's eagerness to sell and get rich.

The old man, recovering from a bonk-induced heart attack, is a randy lecher. So, the family's outrageous stratagem is to hire Nurse Andress, not to cure the old boy, but for her to... ahem... undress and, hopefully, induce another - this time fatal - cardiac arrest.

It's all barmy, fizzy fun, and the clincher? A SECOND Bond Girl! Luciana Paluzzi, the one in skin-tight black leathers on the rocket launching motorbike in 'Thunderball’. Here without leathers. Or anything."

Special features:
  • Complete and Uncut, restored from 2K scan
  • Interview with Director Nello Rossati and Set & Costume Designer on working with Bond lovelies
  • New English subtitles on the alternative Italian track

Exactly yes, most people are pissed that Shameless didn't do quality control, but a lot of the time they license a film and don't have any control over what the digital master looks like unless they have the funds to do it themsleves, and most companies can't do that.

I've got the Blue Underground DVD and had it for years, but I've never even watched it I like the soundtrack a lot though, one of Bruno Nicolai's best IMO.

Whose fault is it then? Mondo Macabro's or Subkultur's? Didn't they see what kind of master they had been provided with? Check their The Sect, The Church, Almost Human, Mountain of the Cannibal God and then check the US releases of the same titles. How come a clown like Bill Olsen can release those movies right but Shameless can't? We customers thank the labels by buying their releases. It's not that they are doing us a favour by releasing these movies, they are not giving away thier releases for free afterall. Every single Shameless blu-ray release has some kind of issue. I strongly feel they do not deserve my hard earned money until they improve. At the moment they are as bad as ****ing Raro Video, and that says a lot.
