Do you think programmes were automatically disabled before because there wasn't enough RAM? I know I used to notice that programmes would randomly shut when I was running beyond my spec. Using anything different or anything else installed? To be honest as long as its running quicker I wouldn't worry about anything else. Are you just doing more stuff at the same time than you would before? I always find I quickly work to a faster spec myself once I've upgraded!

I read that XP should come with "let system manage the file size" as default. However it's set as custom, maybe the memory increase has something to do with it? I'll keep an eye on it for now. Nothing new installed but the system seems to allocate a lot more ram to running applications. Maybe it was saving some ram before? It seems to run very smoothly now, nothing to complain about really. Now I just need to order a memory card reader for my old camera and I'm all set up. Thanks for your help btw. |

Been customizing... RocketDock looks fun,I hope it doesn't slow down my system too much though... |

When minimizing Windows (applications) to RocketDock my auto-hidden taskbar kept popping up from time to time, searched the web for a solution and couldn't find one. I decided some trial and error:always show taskbar on top should be disabled in taskbar properties. Now it works perfectly while I still can unhide my taskbar if needed (you never know anyway). Maybe helpful for someone else as well. |

There's been mention of the danger of static. When I trained in building PC's we were taught a simple trick to discharge all static from the body. Go to the taps at your sink, grab one tap in each hand and stay there for a minimum of 10 seconds. Voila! You've discharged all your static and it's safe to go at the PC.

I've seen some people wearing some sort of anti static band as well, discharging static is a must when you're going to dive into a computer.
