I rewatched the 2012 two hour feature Eurocrime! The Italian Cop and Gangster Films That Ruled the 70s again last night.

Very entertaining. Interesting that the Charles Bronson film The Valachi Papers is actually featured in the doc. I've never seen it but now am odds on to pick up the Indicator limited edition Blu-ray in the forthcoming October sale.

Made me smile when i saw that Jonny Redman, a member here and the first person to welcome me to Cult Labs, has his name in the opening credits.

In true Cannon style, when they heard that a doc was being made about themselves, they jumped up and rattled this one out sharpish.
Starting with their early success in Israel, they soon head to "Mecca" ahem ie Hollywood. Focusing mainly on their "busy" years, this is a fine enough counterpart to the other one imho.
Watched this yesterday, I liked the other one better I think, this one seemed a bit unfocused and amateur, although I suppose that's true to form Did enjoy the JCVD interview, he gave us quite an interesting camera angle

Between the two you can sort of figure out the "whole story" imho.
Yes he was very ... candid cough

American Hardcore (2006, Paul Rachman)

A potted "history" of a genuinely grass roots scene imho. Featuring most of the main players that were still alive, it gets a little generic sounding towards the end (except the mighty Flipper of course cough), but what scene doesn't harumph. Less macho than that Noo Yoik doc to boot (no pun intended).

Another viewing of Going to Pieces: The Rise and Fall of the Slasher Movie It's probably my favourite horror genre doc. Seen it six to ten times now, never get bored by it.

I watched it to see if there was anything i'd missed when it came to selecting my Halloween horrors but thankfully there isn't really.

Unlike when i first watched the film i think i now own 90% of the films mentioned in some format or other. I'm only missing He Knows You're Alone and Saturday the 14th. Oh and Mother's Day...because i got rid of it.

I think it's almost 10 years since I last watched that, I definitely enjoyed it back then, time to dig it out. Knowing my luck it'll be with the DVDs at my mums house rather than here

That slasher doc "Going to pieces" should be on disc 3 of Last house on the left set if you've got this copy.

I've seen the doc in the set numerous times.

I've watched Last House on the Left twice.

23rd Century Giants (2021, Alex Wroten)

Being principally the history of Renaldo & The Loaf.
Meeting at school, our intrepid duo find they share an enthusiasm for not recognising borders ahem, so setting off on a rather indvidual musical path. Falling in with The Residents, they find a base from where to explore their own particular vein.
Am glad that this exists tbh. It's not for everyone, I'll put my hands up here. See (and hear) for yourselves ahem ...
