It's really, really good but the baggage is hard to shake. I can't imagine how incredible it would have been to watch at the time though; it would have been incredibly innovative with its use of non-linear narrative, low-angles and deep focus, things we're far more accustomed to today.

Definitely worth a watch, but try to go into it without all the "GREATEST FILM EVER MADE" stuff in your head.

Hope they change it. I don't mean the artwork though, that pic looks G1 sized. Probably just the angle though.

I think with Kane it's almost impossible to view it objectively, there's always the BEST FILM EVER in the back of your mind. The first time I ever saw it at 17, I was underwhelmed to be honest. I thought it was nothing on Kubrick, Hitch and Lynch, and didn't understand all the hyperbole.

Watched it again a couple of years later already knowing the story etc and was blown away. Every shot seems to scream innovation, and Welles is absolutely magnificent.

As a story, it's good, but not great. As an exercise in filmmaking, it's off the scale. I don't think it's overreacting to say that most of the tropes of modern cinema would not exist of it wasn't for this film. It literally redesigned the entire world of film.

So in short, if you're after a good entertaining film, Touch of Evil is better. As a milestone in cinema, it's arguably second to none.

Anyway-it was too late to cancel it!
I'd put my faith in screenshots that bad! Even Elite realize they've royally f****d up the transfer. They've posted on blu-ray.com that they're starting from scratch again, and going to the original negative and getting it restored.

Some more pics. Looks G2 size there, and apparently this will be the first Fox steelbook without printed certificates. Yay!

Just watched Inferno for the 1st time on Blu but 2nd time overall - the picture is amazing. I'll admit that the 1st time I saw the film on Arrow DVD I watched it in the dark and i shit myself scared lol
