Well I could have used my visit to Hamburg as an opportunity to broaden my cultural horizons with a trip to a museum or a church but instead I worshipped at the church of mammon, in particular that maintained for the sect who bow before the altar of the big round blue shiny thing (thats probably you if you are reading this) and tracked down copies of the German blu's of Community (which was a discovery screening presentation at last years Fright Fest) and Eden which I haven't seen yet. Couldn't find either of these films at home.

Ultimatum time: "No! you can't have any more shelves so if you want some more DVDs you'll have to get rid of some old tat!" (Y' can tell she's a southerner can't y', not enough apostrophes). So, off I trotted, like a good little troggi, to C.E.X. with 2 bags of discs and got £33 for 'em. Strangely enough that is exactly the amount that the DVDs I picked up in there came to

"The Mighty Boosh" Series 1 & 2 - Gotta love the Boosh!
"Phantasm" Box set - Ditto for the steel ball.
"Battle Royale" - replaces a lost copy and haven't seen it for a long time.
"The Happiness of the Katakuris" - An omission, don't know why I never saw this before!
"Ichi the Killer" (anime) - I had to!
"Fargo" - One of the "modern masterpieces" I've promised myself to watch!
"Clive Barker's Book of Blood" Oh, go on then!
"Insidious" - mainly because the kids at school think I'm a wuss because I haven't seen it!

I got TICKS in the post today. The trailer was on something I watched earlier in the week and I remember enjoying it. Surprised how much it can cost but I scored it cheap on eBay.

Had a look around charity shops and CEX as well and came away with...

From Dusk till Dawn 1-3 - at 3 quid I figured it was time to add it to the collection and revisit the sequels.

Violent Cop and Boiling Point - it's been a long time since I watched any Beat Takeshi movies so its time to start collecting them.

Nemesis - at 50p it can be as bad as it wants.

Silent House - been wanting to see this for a long time. Looks like it has a great atmosphere.

Inland Empire - not seen this David Lynch movie. Nice 2 disc release.

Mysterious Skin - wonderful movie and very disturbing at time. Such a great director. I was disappointed that its rental copy, that was obscured by the price sticker, but stoked to revisit this soon.

Not a bad haul for about £12 total considering most were CEX pickups. Was tempted by Maniac Cop 2 but I believe there's a blu lined up in the near future so I passed it up.
