It's a fascinating film, much more overtly religious than the 1959 version, and with some massive set pieces. I saw it on the big screen at the Sage in Gateshead with an orchestra playing the score (I was fortunate enough to be there when they did the same with Charlie Chaplin's City Lights) – that was quite an experience.

Didn't go to FrightFest, but couldn't resist that FrightFest Guide by Alan Jones that Fab Press put out. It's got quite an interesting selection. With HMV not carrying Curtain online I picked it up instore, in the 2 for £10 offer alongside After Death. Quite a few of these seem to have sold from my local. Also a couple of recent releases (The Bloodstained Butterfly and Hangmen Also Die; not a fan of those covers ) and a few I'd been meaning to pick up (Sorority Babes In The Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama and The Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane). Definitely decided to go to FrightFest next year. Even if not for the whole thing, just for a couple of days, I'd like to experience it. |
