Excellent selection, Dem. I have been after a reasonably priced copy of that Shout Factory The Serpent and the Rainbow release for a while, but I've yet to find one.

Chalet Girl is an absolute delight, one I would never tire of watching.

Thank you. Chalet Girl is one of those Blu's you'd expect to find in charity shops and cheap at Cex but i've never come across it until today.

Charity shop

The Marx Brothers Collection - 6 DVD box set ("A Night At The Opera" / "A Day At The Races" / "At The Circus" / "Go West" / "The Big Store" / "A Night In Casablanca") - UK$2:00 [The box is a bit beat-up, but nothing a few pieces of sellotape won't fix]

I went through my horror dvds last night and removed ten that i'd since upgraded to Blu-ray such as the F13th and Evil Dead remakes and took them up to the music shop for completion sakes. The owner was thrilled as he'd already sold several of the dvds i took in yesterday. Anyway i came out with these eight. That's 14 Blu's gained for a whole load of horror dvds that were basically in bags to dump. I'm happy and the record store guy is happy.

He's after the westerns and war films i have duplicates of now.

I was delighted to find Carry on Jack. I'm pretty sure i've never seen it whilst Maison Close was a blind pick up (An Arrow release). The Town and Argo are both excellent films whilst Real Steel and Eddie the Eagle are personal faves of mine.

Sorry, but I found it really heavy going, and the use of 'modern' music in a period drama made it feel very disjointed

But that is just my opinion - hopefully you will enjoy it more

I know nothing about it other than what it says on the reverse of the sleeve. I don't like modern music in period productions either so we'll see.*

It's no loss if it's not wonderful as Cex will probably give a bit of something for the Blu-ray of it.

Thanks for the feedback. Prepares me in a way.

*An exception was Plunket and Maclaine which had a terrific score from Craig Armstrong that melded dance beats into period music.

Pickups today. Extreme Prejudice and Murder by Decree from HMV in the 2 for ?15. Been meaning to pick up a copy of Face/Off for years. Never owned it on disc at all, so jumped on it when I spotted it for two quid in Cash Generators.20240815_223846.jpg
