I guess it could be considered neo-noir, although I'd see it more a s a heist film. It's really good though (one of Mann's best) so I'd definitely recommend checking it out. As for Fargo, it's basically the tale of two thieves, a briefcase full of money and the police so fits pretty well with this week's theme I think.

You are of course toying with us.

Fargo is as noir as any film imaginable. Should never have made the list.

Rain smiley not really appropriate but it's as near to noir as we have.

Be careful, Mr. Eye

I made the mistake of saying I had lost track of what the theme was back in February (best horror sequel/best sequel/worst sequel, or whatever the bloody topic was), and I am still trying to live it down!

I suppose could fit quite well too.

To be honest the only films I consider proper Noir are the '40s-'60s US crime thrillers of the classic era, anything else just isn't 'Noir' to me (a few notable exceptions aside). I've seen people make cases for films such as Drive and Pulp Fiction as Noir and whilst I can certainly see how the influences have shaped films from the current era, I just don't see them as Noir.
