Actually, I was the romantic comedy he stood up while chain smoking himself to death in the cinema toilets.....

This is going to be hard to narrow down to just 10, so many great comedies from that decade!
Justin101 and keirarts like this.

80's comedies. Tough one as I could do a top 50 without any real problems....
I've got a mixed bag but there's tons of stuff omitted and I'll probably need to resist the urge to change the list (again)....

No particular order.
And may change a few times as the weeks goes on. Plus I've avoided horror comedies has we did that as a separate topic not that long ago.

Clue
Porkys
Airplane
The Naked Gun
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Dragnet
National Lampoons Vacation
Twins
Police Academy
Trading Places
Coming to America
When Harry Met Sally.

Surprised how few of these I actually own.

Here we go, like Keirarts I could've done a top 50, and like J Harker, I've left off horror comedies:

No particular order

Big Trouble in Little China
Raising Arizona
Beverly Hills Cop 1&2
Trading Places
Coming to America
Planes, Trains & Automobiles
Heathers
Police Academy
Porky's
This is Spinal Tap

This is a really tough subject, which took a lot of whittling down, removing some films which are obviously comedies and leaving some which have it as a secondary genre. So, in alphabetical order:
  • An American Werewolf in London
  • Back to the Future
  • Brazil
  • Ghostbusters
  • Monty Python's the Meaning of Life
  • The Princess Bride
  • This Is Spinal Tap
  • Tootsie
  • Who Framed Roger Rabbit
  • Withnail and I
