Jokes aside, Return of the living dead & evil dead 2 have humor that doesn't seem to date. A lot of 80's comedies are funny to people who remeber the era but sometimes don't translate for modern audiences. Airplane is one that is universal as well. The only real guilty pleasure one I used was weekend at bernies.

Trading Places is probably more 'of its time' than Airplane!, which is more slapstick than satirical, slightly dating in the same way as Wall Street. Planes, Trains And Automobiles works because it is a buddy comedy. There all still very funny though.

The movie is on Netflix if you have that, quite good comedy with Tim Curry and Christopher Lloyd

Thanks for the info – I was interested by the title because I hadn't heard of it, let alone seen it, so I'll try and watch it on Netflix this week.
