Well it is Japanese, so it all goes a bit schizoid body-horror weirdy in the second half.

I was going to do the same and keep it to traditional slashers.

I'm hoping for a giallo top ten in the coming weeks.

(Wonder if Nordy has seen ten gialli? )

If we do get a Giallo top 10 i hope the stipulation is to omit Argento films from the list then we can get to the nitty gritty.
It's hard mising out favourites so keeping it traditional was difficult, and I did bend the rules a little.

I think a gialli list without Argento would be like slasher without any killing, although I do know where you're coming from as to see the same films get recycled over and over throughout everyone's top 10s would be a little boring - maybe a 'one film per director' rule could be imposed, as speaking selfishlessly, if I couldn't include Tenebrae on a giallo list I think my head would explode.

You make a good point. Perhaps Dario, Mario and Lucio and any other io's could be restricted to one film each.

I'm now contemplating doing two slasher lists. One for the classics and one for the post Scream generation.

Maybe three. - a best of the best as well.

Maybe we could do a 'worst' list again, although I think mine will look very similar (if not identical) to my 'worst horror sequels' list from last week!

All joking aside I have seen quite a few Giallo films but I would like to explore it further before making a top ten.

Ok, I'm not counting Psycho, Peeping tom or Texas chainsaw as they arguably fall a little outside the definition of slashers in my opinion. Im sure many will disagree, this was a tough one.

Top 10 Slasher Films.

Halloween (1978)
The House on Sorority Row (1983)
The Prowler (1981)
My Bloody Valentine 3D (2009)
Bloody Moon (1981)
Pieces (1982)
Don't Answer the Phone (1980)
Scream (1996)
Don’t Open Till Christmas (1984)
The Toolbox Murders (1978)

Like Keirarts, i've left Psycho, The Fiend and Bay of Blood out as they don't fit the late 70's - 80's and post 96 slasher eras.
