BADASS FILM CHARACTERS

I made two gangs of 10 which I think would work really well as they contain strength, skill, fighting ability, intelligence, and someone to be a little bit of comic relief. One of them has only people who are obviously human characters and the other is different because a few members, without being comic book superheroes, have either some supernatural or magical qualities and thought it best to post both.
  • John Wick
  • Ellen Ripley (Aliens)
  • James Bond (Casino Royale)
  • Blondie (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly)
  • Zatoichi (2003)
  • The Bride/Beatrix Kiddo
  • Paddington
  • Riddick
  • Dr Abraham van Helsing (Dracula, 1958)
  • Leon
  • Ogami Ittō (Daigorō would be a bonus)
  • Neville (The Omega Man)
  • Anton Chigurh
  • Jason Bourne
  • Michael Myers
  • Jason Voorhees (The Final Chapter)
  • Gandalf
  • Ash Williams (Army of Darkness Ash, when he has embraced the Boomstick and chainsaw, not the fairly pathetic Ash from Evil Dead)
  • Sarah Conner (Terminator 2)
  • Peter (Dawn of the Dead)

Thanks for everyone who contributed a list of a list of 10 badass film characters who they would like to have to keep them safe in a Doomsday scenario.

This week, in the light of Stan Lee's death yesterday, I'd like you to think more about costumes than people. Most of the Marvel characters have costumes – including masks – which are iconic and some have been worn by several different actors with varying degrees of success.

This doesn't have to be about Marvel or even superheroes and could include characters like the hockey mask-wearing Jason Voorhees or Leatherface. As such, it would be great if you could rank your favourite or most iconic masks in film history and include the film with your favourite design.

If you like, this category could extend to helmets which include part or all of the face (think Boba Fett in the Star Wars films, RoboCop, or Maximus in Gladiator).

MASKS

Great list. Which is your favourite Batman cowl? Do you like the cloth Adam West one, the very rigid Michael Keaton one, the very pointy one worn by George Clooney, the animated one, the very functional one for Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight series, or the newest incarnation? To be honest, I haven't seen any of the films with Ben Affleck but I really like the design of that mask.
