Rabid. 1977. Rose and Art on a cycle ride get involved in a accident, just on the outskirts of a clinic run by Dr. Dan Keloid, who performs skin graph surgery on Rose. When Rose wakes up from her coma she has a urge for blood but she also infects her victims that spreads the Montreal. Classic David Cronenberg film with Marilyn Chambers in the lead role as Rose who somehow done a cross over from her...other films she done. You when Joe Silver is in Cronenberg film that he ain't gonna make it as he didn't in the film Shivers. It is basic man versus plague and trying to change the human nature on diseases. and clueless politicians..ain't that going on just now except no one is foaming at the mouth...Yet! From start to finish this has always been a good favourite, but did the guy really have to shoot Santa in his Grotto. rabid-1977-movie-chambers-cronenberg-3.jpg

Fred Claus Vince Vaughan is Santa's Brother who reluctantly has to assist Santa when a (Film stealing) Kevin Spacey's strict Efficiency Consultant wants to cancel Christmas. I enjoyed this when it 1st came out but after re-watching again, I kinda got bored in places but it's still enjoyable in others. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation The Griswald's are back and this time they are celebrating Christmas by bungling several activities such as chopping down a tree, lighting the house...etc. It's a fine fun movie but now I'm older, I definitely believe that the neighbors have a point regarding the disruptions The Griswald's are causing them and The Dad was completely in the wrong in spending his Christmas Bonus before actually finding out what he got. Happiest Season Mackenzie Davis brings her Girlfriend to her parents house for Xmas but she hasn't told her Parents about her relationship obviously there are situations that have to be dealt with. For me, there are similarities to My Best Friend's Wedding but it's more serious however there are some funny moments (Especially with Stewart's friend) This was one of those Films which I didn't love but didn't hate, it's more if it's on TV, then it's worth watching. |

The Polar Express (2004) ★★★½ Although it's an engaging and occasionally exciting adventure with a heartwarming ending, I really struggled with the characters' dead, soulless eyes. Miracle on 34th Street (1947) ★★★★★ A first viewing of this – the only version I've seen is the 1994 version with Richard Attenborough – and it's a stone cold classic, a great movie which I wish I had seen decades ago. It will now become regular Christmas viewing.

Miracle on 34th Street (1994) An enjoyable remake of a stone cold classic. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this movie. It's charming, funny and has a great cast with young Mara Wilson a standout. Richard Attenborough, who i'd seen the previous night in the extremely uneasy watch, 10 Rillington Place (review to follow) makes for a delightful Kris Kringle. |

I remember liking the 1994 version, with Richard Attenborough a very good Kris Kringle and Mara Wilson as delightful as she was Matilda and Mrs Doubtfire. That said, the 1947 film is a class above and one I'll watch for the second time in 12 months.

The Nutcracker Prince. 1990. Young girl Clara is giving a gift for Christmas by a family friend and is told how the prince was turned into a nutcracker, at night the toys come to life and the prince's enemy come back for revenge. Based on the tale, The Nutcracker and The Mouse by E.T.A. Hoffman, it may not be Disney but has the same animation and creation they did back in the day and the London Orchestra performing the music by Tchaikovsky which was always remembered at Christmas time that was parodied by The Simpsons which made more memorable for me, i wont say that this was a classic film but worth a gander with Keifer Sutherland and Peter O'Toole providing their voices for this. 220px-TheNutcrackerPrincePoster.jpg

The paths of three very different cops cross after a massacre at restaurant at Christmas time, this leads to investigation of murder, corruption and a high class whore house where the girls are made too look like movie stars . Oozing atmosphere with a great cast and story, a fine piece of film nior. 9.5/10 Steven Finch is Mr Christmas of the small town he lives in, when car sales man Buddy Hall moves in over the street , Steven takes a instant dislike too him, more so after he accidentally burns down his price Christmas Tree and even more so when Buddy decide to see if his house can be seen from space by decorating it with Christmas lights, this starts a battle with the two neighbours with their family's caught in the crossfire. Funny than I thought it would be. 7/10 A delightful tale from Finland that deals with the legend of Santa Claus , when the number of reindeer a small settlement which they rely on is wiped out apart from two, a young boy think it has something too do with a dig site and the legend of Santa. A fantastic Christmas horror of you can stomach the naked old men with their party sausages out! 9/10 Priest ( David Niven) seeks help to have cathedral built and preys to haven for the help of a Angel , he gets him wish in the form of Dudley ( Cary Grant who has too be the most suave and sophisticated angel ever. Grants so suave they should be a picture of him next too the word in a dictionary). The priest is not happy when it appears Dudley has no intention of helping him with the cathedral but takes a interest in help those around him and seems to taking a very unangel like interest in his wife. A wonderful movie that I only discovered last year, it has so many warm and uplifting scenes. A classic . 9.5/10 |

Where Eagles Dare (1968) Any who say this isn't a Christmas movie, well i disagree. What do we have in this Alistair Maclean war time adventure? Well, we have a lovely Bavarian village - similar to a Christmas market, Ingrid Pitt serving Schnapps and mulled wine, alpine trees, twinkling Christmas lights in the form of a myriad of explosions and snow. Lots of snow, meaning there's a one in four chance it's set in December anyway. As for the film...it's fantastic. A holiday treat, endlessly watchable. Clint Eastwood at his coolest, Richard Burton who actually out cools Clint, a plot that twists and turns and at some points really does make you ask 'What the f**k?' and a final hour of all out action. Shit really blows up in this film! Where Eagles Dare - The ultimate Christmas movie. It ain't Christmas until Clint says "Hello". Last edited by Demdike@Cult Labs; 20th December 2020 at 11:09 PM. |

One Magic Christmas. 1985. An angel named Gideon is sent to help a mother find the meaning of Christmas again with the help of her young daughter. I haven't seen this since the late 80s/early 90s and came across it by pure chance, think it was my mum who made me watch it as it does have that heart warming touch to it that only women seem to relate to, my god I sound like The Grinch. Mary Steenburgen plays cashier Ginny who lost all faith in Christmas due to financial struggle. Harry Dean Stanton plays the angel Gideon who tries to help her find what the spirit of Christmas means and restore it to her. Elizabeth Harnois plays Abbie who helps Gideon find the answers as to why Ginny detests the festive period and to help Ginny smile again. From start to finish this film does have it's feel good moments and some really good acting from everyone involved, and worth a watch. s-l300.jpg
