I've never seen the television show, so I'm in no hurry to see the film

As we approach the latter part (and my favourite part!) of the year, I thought a little update was in order...

Updated Top 10 new to me films:

1. The War Game (1965)
2. Beauty and the Beast (1978)
3. A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014)
4. Mysterious Skin (2004)
5. Heroic Purgatory (1970)
6. Hard to Be a God (2013)
7. Eros + Massacre (1969)
8. Conspirators of Pleasure (1996)
9. Enemy (2013)
10. Witchhammer (1970)

Top 10 worst new to me films:

1. Monster a-Go Go (1965)
2. The Creeping Terror (1964)
3. The Beach Girls and the Monster (1965)
4. The Beast of Yucca Flats (1961)
5. Night of the Dribbler (1990)
6. It's Alive! (1969)
7. The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence) (2015)
8. Waking Life (2001)
9. Dracula (The Dirty Old Man) (1969)
10. Blödaren (1983)

The 'new to me' list currently stands at 401 titles out of a total of 484 watched thus far.

The main changes to the best new to me films being The War Game taking the top spot and the inclusion of the fascinatinating and experimental Hard to Be a God.

The next two months will be very horror and Noir heavy respectively what with Horror October and Noir November and then I'll probably just watch randomness sprinkled with a few Xmas related viewings throughout December.

I was thinking about my year in film so far today - specifically my cinema viewings which has been about 30 films so far! However Letterboxd doesn't let you export lists if you're not a patron/paid member.

Are there any other services I can sign up to which are free and allow you to export more easily?

Yeah, I'm a 'Pro' member on LB and have the ability to export lists.

I think IMDb allows you to export ratings/lists.

The War Game, straight in at number one.

Wouldn't surprise me if Culloden also nicked a top 10 place.

  2. The Revenant
  3. Room
  4. Deadpool
  5. Goosebumps
  6. Hail, Caesar!
  7. 10 Cloverfield Lane
  8. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
  9. Day of the Dead
  10. Midnight Special
  11. Eye in the Sky
  12. The Jungle Book
  13. Captain America: Civil War
  14. Sing Street
  15. X-Men: Apocalypse
  16. Money Monster
  17. The Nice Guys
  18. The Boss
  19. Independence Day: Resurgence
  20. Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie
  21. Ghostbusters
  22. Star Trek Beyond
  23. Suicide Squad
  24. Finding Dory
  25. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates
  26. Don't Breathe

The Avengers above Penda's Fen?!

I'm very much looking forward to seeing The Witch as part of my October viewing.

Yes, i really enjoyed The Avengers. I watched it twice within a couple of weeks. Penda's Fen lacks a story to complement it's fantastic imagery.

The top three aside you could throw the others in the air and i would be happy in which ever position they landed as all are terrific.

I hope you aren't disappointed with The Witch. It, together with Bone Tomahawk is the outstanding horror film of the year so far. I can't see it being beaten either.

It's number one of this decade with me and probably of the century so far.

The Avengers had a story?! I just thought it was a chain of interlocking sequences of CGI explosions.

High praise indeed!

I hope I'm not either, although my feeling is that I won't be. Bone Tomahawk is another I really want to seek out. Is it fairly horror-ry? Not that it's stopped me before, but I was unsure whether to try and factor it in to my October viewing.
