Just reminds of things like Record Store Day - it's going to get to the point where people are just buying up copies to sell on at a hugely inflated price.

Agreed. They also basically charge high to cover costs of other titles that ran at a loss. Is that fair, that the consumer bear the burden of the label's losses?

All of these TT exclusives will find their way to Region B eventually, so I'm not going to panic buy.

And there does seem to be a trend whereby some people buy multiple copies then sell them for an obscene profit on eBay or Amazon. They're the ones who really profit from these limited edition runs.

What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? to get a US BD release in October!

Warner Home Video Oct. 9 (order date Sept. 4) will release What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? as a newly remastered Blu-ray ($34.99) and a two-disc special-edition DVD ($14.96).

The film, celebrating its 50th anniversary, will be packaged as a Blu-ray book that includes three documentaries, 36 pages of essays and behind-the-scenes photography.

Other extras featured on the Blu-ray include a commentary by Charles Busch and John Epperson, featurettes “Bette and Joan: Blind Ambition” and “Behind the Scenes With Baby Jane,” and a film profile of Joan Crawford.

To be honest, I don't see the issue with Twilight Time's prices. They're selling BD's at the RRP, which is no different to HMV etc selling discs for £20. Just because Amazon discount from the RRP doesn't mean that everybody should. Arrow used to sell at silly prices (£24.99) through their site, and the BFI do the same, but nobody really makes that big a deal about it because the discs are available elsewhere. Lack of purchasing options shouldn't dictate the RRP.

They're putting a lot of work into it though really. Just slapping and HD master they've been handed from Sony or Fox onto a disc without any discernible extras. Olive are doing the same but sell direct at a lot less but higher than the major online stores.

There'll also be no sales tax to customers outside Virginia so $35 for Mysterious Island is $35 to them. If a company here sells at £24.99 then over £4 of that is tax.

My thoughts exactly. Compared to nearly every boutique label out there, there is just no love with the TT releases. Seriously, $35 for a film with no special features other than having a short print run? How lazy can you get? Olive, Kino, MOC, Arrow, BFI et al all put these guys to shame.

I'm sorry, but their whole business plan seems like total BS - 'I know, let's just do the bare amount of work possible and then maximise demand by only printing 3000 copies! Ker-ching!'

Oh, and it's okay because the broad-shouldered powerfully built studio exec used to spend $100 on laserdiscs back in the day ...
