The Cyborg cover is pretty damn awful, at least Germany have the right idea with original artwork.

Whilst the Van Damme covers aren't particularly good by anyone's standards, if these are used for the BDs it won't stop me buying them. A bad cover will never stop me owning the films I want on Blu. Surely the bigger question should be whether the BDs will have good HD transfers rather than the quality of the cover art..?

Agreed 100%.

But to get a good transfer is more difficult than making a good artwork. They should hire some 80 y o grandpa to do the artwork and not some 30 y o photoshopping maniac.

No. Because then every cover would look the same and it would soon get boring, bland and generic. Variety is the key here.
