I didn't dislike it at all, not a patch on the original mind you. |

Salem's Lot (2004) Yeah pretty much the same really,i thought Rob Lowe was very good, shame they did'nt go for a Reggie Nalder type vamp, but very watchable.

Speaking of which got home last night and decided to watch a film from my 'to watch' mountain. Settled on THE BLACKOUT. blackout.jpg I've been somewhat put off the movie by a host of bad reviews on amazon. But I picked it up for a quid in manchester in a second hand shop still shrink wrapped and thought what the hell. Ok, firstly some of the FX is definately ropey, the movies made on the cheap and the earthquake stuff is clearly an optical effect. The monsters are interestingly designed but look very cg in places, like the really bad lickers in the first resident evil movie. Also one or two of the performances are fairly naff. That aside, its actually a fun little movie. Its got a decent SCORE (note not a bunch of randomly selcted tunes but an actual score, not john williams or anything but still) Once its started it never lets up the pace, its pretty gorey but not torture porn levels and its a film thats not affraid to kill likeable characters so from the get go you realise noones safe. For a low budget digital movie this one actually delivers the goods and is definately worth seeking out (currently 80p on amazon!) |
