Not a film but I watched the first episode of "The Tyrant King", a kids TV show from 1968. It's pretty good if you like cool late 60s fashions and London in full swing. Of more interest to folk here maybe the fact that it was directed by Mike Hodges. It's also got a great psyche, early prog sound track with Pink Floyd, The Nice, Cream and The Moody Blues. |

The Deadly Spawn. Finely got the Arrow Video DVD from HMV (A rather reasonable £13) and watched it for the first time. Truely a master class of how to piss all over CGI. Possibly one of the three best no-budget movies in my opinion. Right up there with The Evil Dead and Bad Taste. Loved it! 9/10

Watched Death Screams last night and Vipco really outdid themselves with this one. Not content with the dark, murky transfer and (seemingly) cutting the film to ribbons, they actually put the frames in the wrong order so the 'plot' went as follows: Beginning ... overlong carnival sequence ... mid-30's 'teenagers' get bumped off ... kids come back from the dead and arrive at the bonfire party ... end Having said all this, there were elements of this I enjoyed and whilst it isn't the best 80s slasher I've ever seen, it's far from the worst. I'd just like to see someone like Arrow do a decent job on it |

Mother of Tears - hmm...not as bad as I was lead to believe but in no way a worthy end to the Three Mothers trilogy at all. Asia was incredibly unconvincing I thought and although there were some half decent gory set pieces (if you can call them that) and the finale was pretty good it just didn't work overall. There was also a point where Sarah met back with Michael where (and this might seem like nerdy nit-picking) the 180 degree rule was broken which, rather than a deliberate stylistic choice, just seemed indicative of how sloppy Argento has become.
