Started watching the new Dracula blu last night. Have to admit (and I know I'll probably be massacred for this) I was a little disappointed. Not with the film obviously, an absolute classic. But the transfer while clean and bright just didn't really pop like I'd expected/hoped for. I was just expecting it to be sharper. Maybe once I've had chance to sit and watch it through properly.

Exactly. Corman and Band shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence. Corman produced timeless classic productions of brilliant works of literature, Band just makes home video trash which looked dated six months after release. (I'm being really charitable to Band there.)

I suspect Hawk was kidding.

Some people actually like Bands stuff thank you very much! And the guy is basically the pioneer of the dtv movie (some might say that's a bad thing, not me though).

Bet you just love that 88 Films are on here promoting all those shit films.

I'm not particularly slating his films (I happen to enjoy some of them and have a couple on pre-order), just making a point that his work shouldn't be compared with Corman's, it's like comparing fillet steak with Tesco Value beef(horse) mince.

There is a place in Cult-Labs for both, I personally only like a handful of Band's films, but then again, I don't love everything Corman puts his hand to, so it's swings and roundabouts

Of course, I'm a huge Hammer fan, but I don't like everything they did/do, same goes for Amicus.
